What is a Greeter?
A Thanet Greeter is a local volunteer that loves the area and wants to share their passion, knowledge and experiences with visitors and by doing so improving their visit.
What will a Thanet Greeter do?
- You can expect your Greeter to provide a two to four hour visit to your chosen area for up to six people.
- You will be made aware of the facts and be shown sites that you may not have found on your own.
- Answer and questions and help you become orientated with the area.
- Explain how to use the public transport system.
- Advise you on attractions, restaurants and places of entertainment.
- Meet you regardless of the weather.
- Enlighten you on the Isle of Thanets rich historical and cultural background.
What you should know before meeting your Greeter:
- Thanet Greeters are volunteer "friends" and not professional tour guides.
- The Greeters do not offer tours and there are not set itineraries.
- Only one Greeter request can be made during your stay.
- Requests for a Greeter must be made at least two weeks before your visit.
- Greeters are subject to availability.
- Greeters meet with no more than six persons at one time and can never be shared among groups.
- All Greeters and visitors travel on foot or on public transport.
- Greeters can make arrangements for visitors with disabilities.
